One of the most difficult things for people to do is purging. Making decisions about what to keep and what to toss, donate etc. I find that it is easier for clients to purge if they know the items will be put to good use. There are some great organizations that will accept all kinds of items. When you look at keeping something you need to ask yourself a few questions:
• When was the last time I used this?
• Do I plan on using it in the next 6 months?
• Is the room and energy needed to organize the item truly worth it?
• Can I be better utilizing this time somewhere else?
• Can I find this information quicker, easier and more up to date on the internet?
• Can I store this information digitally?
• Does keeping this serve me in some way?
• What organization can I donate this to that would get more use out of it?
• Do I need to keep this for taxes, legal or insurance purchases?
There are the traditional organizations to donate to such as the Good Will or Salvation Army but there are many more thanks to the internet. To help ridding yourself of some household and business items here are some great websites and resources for just about anything.
